NCAA Tournament 2008

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

It seems that I am spoiled fan and that my expectations are through the roof for University of Nevada basketball. After four straight NCAA Tournament appearances the Wolf Pack were in rebuilding mode this season and finished the season 21-12 (12-4) which is a good season but relegated the team to the College Basketball Invitational, which I think is a step below the N.I.T.

When one considers that Nevada lost four out of five starters, Kemp being the only one back form the 2006-07 season, 21 wins is good showing. Essentially the program has reached the point where 21 wins is a disappointment and this is a good thing. The University of Nevada has never been an athletic powerhouse but Coach Fox has developed a squad that plays at a very high level on a national stage.

Even More Misc. Notions About The 2008 NFL Season

1) The Raiders should avoid trading their 2nd round pick to Atlanta for DeAngelo Hall. There is little doubt that Hall is supremely talented and would be an asset to a less than stellar Oakland defense but did he ever live up to his potential? It is the opinion of this scribe that the Raiders would be better suited to go after Pacman Jones. Also Pacman wouldn’t cost $70,000,000 over 7 years like Hall.

2) The 49ers are reaching with their recent free agent signing of Bryant Johnson. If you can’t become a tip/top receiver under Dennis Green in all likelihood you never will. But he is an upgrade over most of the wideout talent in San Francisco. On a related note I think the signing of Isaac Bruce was a good idea. He’s a Martz guy and will ideally bring some maturity and poise to a young 49er squad.

3) Ezra Butler, of University of Nevada fame, will be a solid pro.

Our kid, Scarlett Johansson, is being auctioned off to the highest Ebay bidder. One lucky fan will receive:

    * two tickets to the world premiere of He’s Just Not That Into You. The premiere location has not yet been determined but will be in either Los Angeles or New York this July.

    * Chauffeured car service to the premiere

    * Hair and makeup for one by Privé

    * A meet and greet with Scarlett Johansson at the premiere

Unfortunately I am a little short of the $12,300 that would put me in the lead but my birthday is coming up and hopefully someone will embrace my delusions.
