Pacman (Fever) 10.0

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

The NFL has delayed its decision on the suspension of Pacman Jones. Jones’ attorney is summarizing their appeal in writing and will be reviewed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Goodell has maintained a new sheriff in town mentality towards the recent increase in NFL off the field troubles. At this point Jones is trying to have his suspension reduced to anything less than the entire 2007 season.

Would I want Pacman on my team? Yes, I had many theories on how the Bears could use a man of his talents but ultimately he is the  rare shutdown corner. His special team skills are also at a high level but lets keep in mind there is always Devin Hester.  Truthfully Pacman will be dumped by the Titans and he will be scooped up in a moment. It stands to reason that he will clean up his act for the remained of his NFL career.

Randomness: The Bears announced that they are moving Hester to offense. From the few times I saw him play defensive back last year it is apparent that his talent are with the ball in his hands. I think the experiment can work and I did the same thing in Madden ‘07. He is fourth on the wide receiver depth chart. Keep in mind that this also the same squad that has Pacman and Hester returning kick offs.

Pacman (Fever) Update 9.0

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Pacman Jones’ attorney has outlined the case for the martyred defensive back that is meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodel on Friday to appeal his one year suspension. Jones’ attorney main point is that 283 NFL players have been arrested since 2000 and none have been handed a one year suspension.

Pacman (Fever) Update 8.0

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Pacman Jones is expected to file an appeal of his one year suspension. Monday is the last day to file and begin the appeals process. Ultimately any appeals and subsequent ruling are handled by the Commissioner Roger Goodell, the same man that handed Pacman his suspension.

Initially Goodell left the possibility open for Pacman to return after 10 games for good behavior. The NFLPA has been nearly mute on the issue.

Pacman (Fever) Update 7.0

Pacman Jones put this paid advertisement is the Friday edition of the Tennessean. For most this may seem like a ploy laced with crocodile tears to garner sympathy after his recent suspension for the 2007 season but to this scribe it is the first step towards recovery any part of his career. Admittance of fault, at least to me, is hard road to embark on and like Paul Hornung and Alex Karras before him Pacman is on his way back to the NFL. Mistakes have been made by Pacman, this will never be denied but he is admitting his wrongs and seems to be on his way to rectifying them.

If you live long enough, you’ll make mistakes. But if you learn from them, you’ll be a better person. - Bill Clinton

Pacman (Fever) Update 6.0

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I just pray that this can be changed. This is not fair for him. It’s just not fair. - Pacman’s mom after hearing her son was suspended for 2007

Pacman Jones has been suspended for the entire 2007 season for numerous personal conduction violations. Jones has had 10 run ins with the police since being drafted in the first round by the Titans in 2005. Jones is being investigated by the Las Vegas Police Department because of a February incident where three people were shot.

“You have put in jeopardy an otherwise promising NFL career,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. ”and have risked both your own safety and the safety of others through your off-field actions. In each of these respects, you have engaged in conduct detrimental to the NFL and failed to live up to the standards expected of NFL players. Taken as a whole, this conduct warrants significant sanction.”

Pacman is being railroaded by the NFL due to the excessive blemishes on his social activities. To date Pacman has received nothing more than probabtion for his various misgivings. In the history of the NFL only three players have been suspended for a season due to non-drug related offenses and these violations were all related to gambling. At this point Pacman is guilty for nothing more than getting noticed by the police.

Hopefully Pacman contests this ruling through the NFLPA. I am not saying he is a saint but they’re making him the scapegoat for the league and the punishment is excessive.

Long may you run, Pacman

Pacman (Fever) Update 5.0

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

I have made horrible decisions about who I am with or who I am going places with … Two of my friends who had never driven a Bentley, I let them drive my Bentley one night just because. Not just to show them the upside, but I never had anyone do that for me. It’s always the little things that get me in trouble. - Pacman Jones
Pacman Jones recently met with NFL boss Roger Goodell to discus his various brushes with the law. It has been rumored that Pacman could be suspended for the entire 2007 season despite never being convicted of any crime. Any decisions to punish Pacman should be within the next week according to Goodell.

The Las Vegas Police Department is still investigating Pacman’s run in at a local strip club from January. The local district attorney is asking for information before formally charging Pacman.

“Like I said man, it was the people I was hanging around,”  Pacman said . “I made some
bad decisions. I am not living a lie. I promise you that I am on the right track, but I have made horrible decisions about who I am with or who I am going places with.”

Pacman (Fever)Update 4.0

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

The Las Vegas Police Department are recomending that Pacman Jones be charged with one count of felony coercion and and misdeamenor counts of battery and threat to life. The charges stem from Pacman’s run in at a Las Vegas strip club last month. The strip club incident included three people getting shot and one stripper having her head bounced off the stage.

“It took approximately five weeks to investigate this and it’s not something we took lightly,” Lt. George Castro said. “We had to look at a lot of video and it came from five sources. You can only imagine what it was like that night, very violent, very chaotic, so some of the information we had was very sketchy.”

At this point it is only specualtion on what happened that tragic night in a strip club. Pacman was there, that hasn’t been refuted but his role has been dsiputed. At this point this case could go against Pacman and lead to some serious jail time but it could also end up like when Ray Lewis was charged with double homicide in 2000. Ultimately Lewis was fingered as the murderer but in reality he was the rich celebrity whose associates went to trial for the charges. They too were exonerated. To this day Lewis is defending his honor even though he never stood trial for the murders and was never penalized by the NFL.

Pacman (Fever) Update 3.0

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Newly appointed NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell may suspend Pacman Jones for the entire 2007 season before he is found guilty for any of the charges or misgivings that have surrounded the Tennessee Titan. A source close to the Commissioner stated before the NFL holds their annual owner’s meetings in Scottsdale this week.

“We can’t tell the Titans that he won’t play for them ever again,” The anonymous source stated. “Because the Titans, at the end of the day, will determine his long-term future. But the league will determine his short-term future. You should see something within a two or three-week time frame, and I would think you could expect a multiple-game suspension, or as much as a year or beyond.”

Pacman is getting railroaded by a league that is trying to clean up its image. Pacman is now the fall guy despite the fact that he has never been found guilty of anything since he joined the NFL. Oddly enough you can use steroids, Shawne Merriman, get suspended for four games and make the Pro Bowl.

To this man you may want to start with the nine members of the Cincinnati Bengals that were arrested last season and the harshest suspension was two games for Chris Henry. Tank Johnson is looking at four months in prison for probation and will be afforded to opportunity to hit the field eventually in 2007. Pacman is innocent until proven otherwise and the NFL is not giving him the freedom and justice that any man should receive.

Pacman (Fever) Update 2.0

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Pacman Jones was threatened with a knife while bowling on Saturday night.

“Mr. Jones was here just trying to be a normal customer,” Stephanie Sico of the Franklin Police said. ”Trying to bowl with several other people.”

Clayton Smith, a local man, was arrested after he “threatened to beat up Mr. Jones and to use the knife on him.” Pacman was not hurt.

Pacman’s empoyer, the Tennessee Titans, are growing disillsuioned with the defensive back.

“As an organization, it’s always been our policy to gather facts and to make sure we have all the information, and that’s what we’re doing,” Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said. “At this point, I don’t see him coming back on the 19th.”

DPC.com is defending Pacman until he is found guilty of any of the numerous crimes he has been charged with. At this point he is nothing more than a magnet for trouble but he is innocent until proven otherwise.

Pacman (Fever) Update

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

Tennessee Titans defensive back Pacman Jones is facing more criminal charges. This incident dates back to February 2006. Jones and a friend were pulled over by local police at 1:00 a.m. Jones’ companion was pinched for marijuana possesion and in the ensuing skirmish Pacman took of for the house he was parked outside of. Eventually he took a swing at a cop and was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed. Jones is being charge with obstruction of justice and has a court appearance this month in Georgia to face the charges.

“When police approached the vehicle, they got into ‘a verbal altercation, which led to a physical confrontation (when) they ran into a home they were sitting outside of,’ Police Chief Steve Heaton said. “We had to run in and get them, and there was a physical confrontation with Pacman, and he was charged with the felony obstruction.’’

In a related incident, a month later on March 23, 2006, Pacman allegedly reeked of marijuana after exiting his Corvette to be served search warrant papers by a local SWAT team. According to one of the officers involved, Capt. Mike Pruitt, Pacman did not seem to care about the NFL’s mandatory drug testing.

“We know when we’re going to be tested,” Pacman allegedly said to Pruitt. ”We know months in advance when we’re going to be tested. I stop using two months ahead of time.’”
